Crossover SUVs are the craze of the past years in the car world. If you want to join in, due to seeing their functionality and use, especially in the city, then the Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021 and the Ford Escape 2021 are two worthy mentions seeing how the cheapest options are starting at $20,000 MSRP.
When talking about the powertrains, the Chevrolet Trailblazer comes with two engines. As standard, it comes with a turbocharged 1.2L I3 that has 137 hp and 162 lb*ft of torque—coupled with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT for short) in a front-wheel-drive configuration only. The other option is a turbocharged 1.3L I3 that has 155 hp and 174 lb*ft of torque. This engine available with either a CVT in a front-wheel-drive format or an 9 speed automatic in an all-wheel-drive configuration. The Ford Escape has 3 options. It comes standard with a turbocharged 1.5L I3 with 181 hp and 190 lb*ft of torque coupled to an 8 speed automatic with front-wheel drive as standard or all-wheel drive if desired. The premium option is a turbocharged 2.0L I4 with 250 hp and 280 lb*ft of torque coupled to an 8 speed automatic with an all-wheel-drive only. The Escape also comes with a 2.5L I4 hybrid powertrain, with 200 hp and 155 lb*ft of torque, but the trim levels are expensive, and the system’s potential repair is also costly.
When looking at the interior, the Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021 comes with plenty of options, and even the cheapest trim is entirely livable with. Infotainment capable of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and all the other connectivity comes as standard, which is a plus. Options are plenty on higher trim levels, such as driver safety options (sensors, cameras, blind-spot monitors), comfort options (automatic climate control, humidity sensors, Bose sound system), and others.
Owners are pleased with the Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021. People claim it feels very nippy in towns, and it’s tall and easy to drive, roomy, and pretty comfortable.
If you are in the market for a smaller, economical crossover SUV used in towns and commuting, then the Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021 is an excellent choice. Affordable, economical, and comfortable. Government 5-Star Safety Ratings are part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov). Model tested with standard side airbags (SAB). Starting with 2011 models, NHTSA has introduced tougher tests and rigorous new 5-Star Safety Ratings that provide more information about vehicle safety and crash avoidance technologies. Because of the more stringent tests, ratings for 2011 and newer vehicles should not be compared to ratings for 1990-2010 models. Overall vehicle score and frontal crash ratings should ONLY be compared to other vehicles of similar size and weight. For more information go to www.safercar.gov
